Distribution At American Airlines Essay
American Airlines is a major United States airline. It was formed in 1930 as a passenger airline and merged with different carriers since its formation. American Airlinesââ¬â¢ operations grew rapidly after World War II. In 1921, Americanââ¬Ës corporate predecessor had only five small airplanes for transporting airmail. In 1946, American ordered 220 new planes. 1952 ââ¬â American introduced the Magnetronic ââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Reservisorâ⬠, a mechanical console installed on each desk to help automate inventory control. The Reservisor offered major productivity improvements: A trial in the Boston reservations office served an additional 200 passengers daily, with 20 fewer reservations staff. American and IBM collaborated on the design of an improved inventory management system, ultimately called the Semi-Automated Business Reservations Environment (SABRE). IBM provided the hardware, while American and IBM jointly built the software. The initial investment was comparable to half a dozen Boeing 707 jet airplanes. Competitors make their own distribution system and later, certain circumstances open the industry to Global Distribution System allowing AAââ¬â¢s own system to be access by those customers of competitors. TIME CONTEXT In year 2006, when American Airlines faced the impending expiration of its three-year contract with its four then existing GDS. POINT OF VIEW Lead negotiator Charlie Sultan and co-lead negotiator Chris Degroot. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM American Airlines was unable to shoulder the fees set by GDS due to struggled with fuel prices and increased competition from new entrants. OBJECTIVES Must: To continue attending to customersââ¬â¢ requirements as well as preserving the relationship with travel agents. To maintain easiness in accessing American Airlinesââ¬â¢ services through supporting their existing GDS. To overcome possible threats brought by the changing environment (fuel prices and new airline entrants). Wants: To become the leader company in airline industry. To obtain more profit intended for supporting the database services and other related activity. To preserve the trust given to them by their customers as well as their partner travel agencies. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION (SWOT ANALYSIS) Strengths One of the pioneer airlines to have an electronic distribution system (SABRE). Expertise in airline industry proven by their years of operation overcoming past challenges, Weaknesses Unable to maintain their existing GDS (Global Distribution System) when it comes to its expenses. Not able to anticipate future problems. Opportunities Since they already collaborated with IBM with their SABRE and obtained knowledge in software development, they may expand their business of having an integrated airline services and engage in developing software. Opportunities for growth in the industry. Threats The implementation of Source Premium policy may result to travel agenciesââ¬â¢ switching to other airlines. Possible new entrants in the airline industry might be more technology-based and modern allowing American Airlinesââ¬â¢ existing customers to consider switching services from them. ALTERNATIVE COURSE OF ACTION ACA#1 ââ¬â Limiting American Airline GDS Involvement to One. This will enable AA to focus into one GDA only while taking actions into garnering solutions for acquiring funds in supporting the remaining GDS. For the meantime, while AA resolves the insufficiency, the company may not be able to sacrifice theà relationship with its travel agents. ACA#2 ââ¬â Pushing the Idea of Source Premium Policy. Although the risk will be losing of referrals with travel agencies, the idea is still essential. It is letting the travel agency subscribing to AA shoulder the excess charges set by GDS. Travel agencies, anyway, may pass the charges to customers who is willing fully accept AAââ¬â¢s policy. ACA#3 ââ¬â Partnerships with Existing and Well-Known Travel Agencies. This will strengthen the relationship between AA and travel agencies and create a mutual understanding. AAââ¬â¢s experience through the years could guarantee the travel agency a continuous growth of the industry. On th e other hand, the travel agency could put trust to AA and be able to work for AAââ¬â¢s continue offering of services. RECOMMENDATION The student recommends ACA#3 Partnerships with Existing and Well-Known Travel Agencies. ACTION PLAN In doing the recommended alternative course of action, the following actions should be fully implemented effectively. 1. Create a plan for the possible business structure that may arise. That may include blueprint on how will be a partnership being structured. 2. Make a draft of possible guidelines on both parties in partnerships. The conditions should include mutual benefit. 3. Seeking of trusted and well-known travel agencies and doing a background check on the prospects. 4. Conducting a meeting with the travel agencies that has been chosen. In a meeting, AA should effectively persuade the agency, stating the mutual benefit. 5. AA should allow the agency to revised or add on the guidelines in setting the conditions for he partnership. 6. Agreeing party should also consider the existing AA business policy. AA should also give a favorable condition to the agencies. 7. Executing the planned structure in the business with the official travel agency partners.

My research
Fixers are found everywhere wherever rules and regulations governing business or public sector appear overly bureaucratic and complex while proper oversight and control is poor. And wherever Fixers are found, corruption is seldom very far behind. A report from news interviewing a man from Cavity saying that: ââ¬Å"Mamba young pill. Saying Lang young roars OK kayak nag algal an Lang oakâ⬠( it will be a waste of time that's why I was compelled to just give money) Our Government make a law entitled ââ¬Å"the anti Red tape Act of 2007â⬠R.A 9485 to prevent Fixers system but even though we eave a law against in the system of fixers, there are so many people who used fixers for their transaction. Furthermore, maybe it's a Job considered for a person having a financial needs but did they ever think the consequences of being a fixers. Being fixers is a violation against the law. Besides we cannot criticize those fixers because that is their means of living. So here we can deduce that Filipinos really have a shortfall in terms meeting the desired income in order to live in a descent life. That's why some Filipinos engaged on that kind of Job.The question is how we prevent that mind of job, how we can restrain those people who depend on the fixer scheme. Because I believe that if there is no people who depend on the fixers system, there is no fixers. 1. 1 statement of the problem This study Conducted to investigate the causes, effects and solution of the fixers system In the Philippines. Specifically the study attempted to answer the following questions: 1 . How do respondents profile be describe In terms of : 1. 2 Education and position In the office 1. 3 Nature of occupation 1. 4 Family economic status 2. 1 lifestyle 2. Security of family . How effective is the law that create to prevent the fixers system 4. What are the reasons why those people used fixers 5. What are the solutions to prevent fixers 6. What are the ways to prevent those people who used fi xers scheme Chapter 2 Review and Related Literature The review of the literature for this study focuses on what are the fixers' scheme, and other consequences of being fixers. The research is all about of the causes and effects as well as the solution to prevent fixers' scheme and also the relation between the fixers and the bureaucratic system. The underground occupation of corruption is through ââ¬Å"fixingâ⬠and discover The motivations, attitudes, worldview, techniques and even Jargon of ââ¬Å"fixers. â⬠The deeper we penetrate through the topsoil of corruption, the better we can arrive at remedies that not only suit our formal and legal structures but also take Into account our culture and social condition, remedies that not only to palliate The symptoms but uproot the malady of corruption. It is a problem from top to bottom of the society is it in the private sector but is most noticeable in the government being the regulatory body of all transactions.Manila ululate post about The Ombudsman (Toadying) of the Philippines, which independently monitors the bureaucracy and three branches of government ââ¬â Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary ââ¬â marks its 26th Anniversary on May 12, 2014, with renewed ââ¬Å"passionâ⬠in enforcing accountability in public sector; ââ¬Å"inspirationâ⬠in instilling integrity in public service; and ââ¬Å"commitmentâ⬠in promoting transparency in officials and employees accused of crimes, especially graft and corruption. In discharging its functions, the Ombudsman has a three-pronged approach. Its punitive approach covers its investigative and prosecutorial powers. Its promotional initiatives bring the message of good governance to the public. And its preventive measures engage multicultural coordination in efforts to prevent corruption. The Philippine Constitution provides for the Ombudsman. Presidential Decree 1487 on June 1 1, 1978, created the Toadying and vested it with power to investi gate complaints relative to public office and file cases before the courts. The Philippine Constitution ratified in 1987 created a new Ombudsman, whose composition, powers, and functions were defined in Executive Order 243 on July 24, 1987. The Ombudsman became operational on May 12, 1988, the date for its anniversary celebration. The Ombudsman's five major functions under Republic Act 6770, the Ombudsman Act of 1989, are public assistance, graft prevention, investigation, prosecution and administrative adjudication.Ombudsman Contain Carpi Morale has adopted eight priorities for her term (2011-2018) ââ¬â dispose of high-profile cases, attain zero backlog, improve fact-finding ââ¬Å"survivalâ⬠rate, enforce monitoring of referred cases, improve responsiveness of public assistance, improve anti-corruption policy and program ordination among sectors, rationalize the functional structure of the office, and enhance transparency and credibility. There was an Ombudsman under the P ermanent Commission during the Philippine Revolutionary Government in 1898.Ombudsman-like agencies were set up by past Philippine Presidents to serve as venue for people to air grievances and seek redress against abuses in government: Integrity Board under President Ellipsoid R. Squiring in 1950, Presidential Complaints and Action Commission under President Ramona R. Massage's in 1957, Presidential Committee on Administration Performance Efficiency under President Carols P. Garcia in 1958, Presidential Anti-Graft Committee of President Doodads P. MacDougal in 1962, and Presidential Agency on Reforms and Government Operations in 1966 and Complaints and Investigation Office in 1970 under President Ferdinand E.Marco's. In that article states that all of the three branches of the government shall follow the transparency act of the Philippines. Research Methodology This study was conducted in order to know the causes and effects as well as the solution of the fixers system. To be able to gather the necessary data, the researcher utilized the descriptive method, using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Herein, the chosen responded were randomly selected from various people who knows about the system. The survey methods were the research instruments used for the data-gathering.The person who has been chosen in this study accomplished a survey questionnaire to evaluate the causes, effects and the solution facing the fixers system in the Philippine bureaucracy. The credibility of findings and conclusions extensively depend on the quality of the research design, data collection, data management, and data analysis. This chapter will be dedicated to the description of the methods and procedures done in order to obtain the data, how they will be analyses, interpreted, and how the conclusion will be met. This section is to Justify the means in which the study was obtained and will help in giving it purpose and strength as it will then be truthful and analytical. A ll these will help in the processing of the data and the formulation of conclusions. Specifically, this research will cover the following: the research design and method, the respondents or subjects to be studied (which will include the sampling method), he data collection instrument, and the data analysis. These will be presented below. Stratified sampling Use Use it when there are smaller sub-groups that are to be investigated.Use it when you want to achieve greater statistical significance in a smaller sample. Use it to reduce standard error. Method Divide the population up into a set of smaller non-overlapping sub-groups (strata), then do a simple random sample in each sub-group. Strata can be natural groupings, such as age ranges or ethnic origins. Example A high school student who is studying year-ten attitudes in the school uses estimation tuition classes as strata and studies a random selection of students from each of these classes. In a company there are more men than women , but it is required to have each group equally represented. Two strata are thus created, of Stratification aims to reduce standard error by providing some control over variance. If you know that there are groups that must be included, for example men and women, then you can deliberately sample these in a due proportion. Proportionate stratified sampling takes the same proportion (sample fraction) from each stratum. Disproportionate stratified sampling takes a different proportion from different strata. This may be done to ensure minorities are adequately covered. If you do this, and want to make an estimate about the population, you will have to weight within- group estimates using the sampling fraction. If the groups are homogeneous (e. Have the same proportions of each attribute), and hence within-group variation is lower than the population, then stratified random sampling will give a statistically more accurate result than simple random sampling. Stratified sampling is sometimes called quota sampling or stratified random sampling.

Social media impact on public relations practice Research Paper
Social media impact on public relations practice - Research Paper Example Public relations experts were the first individuals to embrace the supremacy of social media. Consequently, social media alters the face of this industry (Folkens, 2011). Public relations experts can take advantage of social media by utilizing it to communicate with their clients. This is a significant opportunity for industries to gain direct responses from their clients. This interaction permits for constant refinement and advancement to create a deep relationship with their clients. Human relations made possible by listening and responding via social media bring the clients closer to a brand. The rapidity of information distribution is extremely fast. Public relations experts can now access a wealth of information that is shared with clients seeking resolutions to a quandary. Social media has the potential to develop constructive interactions between institutions and their clients. There are various ways in which social media has an influence on proficiencies, information and work performances of present and future public relations experts. This is in the manner new media is put into use including the influence that connected expectations and deme anor of clients has on the public relations industry (Melanie, 2007). Another proposal is that public relations industries need to develop comprehensive policies on the utilization of social media for their own advantage. Each professional has a significant role to play in depicting the company he or she works for in constructive radiance in social media. This will, consequently, expand the responsibility of every worker in the industry. There is also the need for institutions to put strategies in place on how social media can be utilized as part of the public relations techniques. This is crucial in adding a competitive advantage to the institutions and enhancing their communication channels with their clients. However, there is the proposal to introduce appropriate measures with regard to

The report should: (i) Evaluate the labor hours and the activity based costing methods in the circumstances of Sober plc. Volume Based Costing Under the existing circumstances of Sober plc, direct labor hours is used as a basis for volume based costing throughout all the three ranges of the bikes . Overheads are allocated to each product on the basis of direct labor hours such that overhead rate is computed to be ?48 per hour. That rate is then multiplied by the number of hours taken by each product to obtain the total overhead cost pertaining to each product. Each productââ¬â¢s overhead cost in then divided by the number of units of the corresponding product to obtain overhead rate per unit. In this way, Fireball has the maximum overhead rate of ?9,600 whereas the overhead rates for roadster and sunshine remained at ?6,600 and ?4,800 respectively. It is important to note that the biggest reason behind the relatively overhead rate per unit of Fireball is the less number of units produced. Its total overhead cost is however the lowest among all the three products. (Lal, 2009) If the Contribution

Services marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2750 words
Services marketing - Essay Example Service marketing is the marketing of service or performances of the service seller. Service is intangible in nature and hence it cannot be measured. Similarly, service marketing is also intangible and cannot be gauged easily. The reason behind the distinction between that of the product marketing and service marketing is because of the fact that services are more heterogeneous in nature. There is no uniformity when it comes to service marketing as there are different types of services available. Crux of service depends on its uniqueness. If a better service is provided then that particular company will get to sell more of its services. Thus there is no standardization in marketing as opposed to that of the products. You need to bring this awareness into the customers as well. Literature Review Marketing Types and Characteristics There are different types of marketing needs. One of the marketing types is that of the product marketing wherein the customerââ¬â¢s needs toward the products are taken care of. Product marketing is easy to gauge and thus will provide a clear cut approach for marketing. The manufacturing of the product is based on the product marketing. If the demand from the customer is more then more such products will be manufactured. Service is something that is rendered as per the requirement of the service buyer. Both service buyer and service seller plays a major important role in the market of service. Service marketing is entirely different from that of the product marketing and requires a completely new approach than that of the product marketing. The four major characteristics of marketing play a major role in optimizing of the service marketing. They are intangibility, heterogeneity, intangibility and perishable nature. In view of Bruhn M. and Georgi D. (2006, p. 478), the service indu stry has got a value chain that it needs to follow through in the process of marketing. Once the managing of service value chain is mastered then it becomes quiet easy thereafter. A set procedure will make a huge difference. A lot of factors that can be attributed to service marketing, that makes gives it a winning edge. Services have a special angle to it as they can never be stored for future consumption. It has to be used then and there. Thus service is produced and consumed at the same time. Perishable in nature services need to be utilized when it is produced. Marketing of services needs a lot of other contributing factor. Say for instance, if you are marketing a product, only the product needs to be good. If the product is good then people will go for it without any further questioning. On the other hand service marketing needs a lot of attractive features such as the company that renders service should be well known in the market. The person who is undertaking the responsibil ity to deliver the service should also be good and impressive. Only then the service will be sought after. The distinct nature of service marketing It is the service industry that needs more of marketing than that of the product manufacturing. Hence service marketing is more important aspect of the business. People need to get the name of

Paradise Now Movie Review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Paradise Now - Movie Review Example The movie is basically about terrorists who choose to blow themselves up for a cause or in other words who execute the suicide bombings. The director has tried his level best to explain situations which turn people into terrorists, when a person has no other option but to give up his life to prove a point such a situation is the most desperate one and only in such a situation a person becomes a terrorist. It would be very unfair to say that the director is sympathetic to murderers and is approving suicide missions through this movie, he has tried his best to bring out the root cause of why people turn to terrorism, and if we are to stop terrorism we have to understand it's root cause and we have to understand the feelings of the people who have no other option but to blow themselves up to send a message to people who do a lot of injustice to them. The movie has very interesting characters, like Khaled, Said, Suha and Jamal. Khaled and Jamal are childhood friends and share a good chem istry. They live in a town called Nablus. The most interesting character of the movie is without a doubt Said; he remains very serious and focused in the whole movie. Both Said and Khaled had no concrete work to do, so they engaged themselves in a garage and took care of the cars. This film turned many a head by being the first Palestinian film to be nominated for the Academy award in the category of the best foreign film. The film shows why people turn to terrorism, what are the various factors involved in transforming the people and making them do the unimaginable. Jamal meets Said to prepare him and his childhood friend Khaled to carry out suicide attacks in Tel Aviv, Israel. He said "We decided to answer the assassination of Abu Hazem and Um Jaber's son who died in the bombings." (Paradise now 2005). He motivates Said by saying "If you fear death, you are already dead." (Paradise now 2005). Said had a good enough motive to carry out the suicide attacks, his father was a collaborator and worked for the Israelis, he was executed by them. He quotes "I was born in a refugee camp, life here is like imprisonment. The crimes of the occupation are countless; the worst crime of all is to exploit people's weaknesses and to turn them into collaborators" (Paradise now 2005). He firmly believed that his father was a very good man but he was made weak by being a collaborator by the Israelis. He wanted to send a loud and a clear message to the Israelis by giving up his life. Both he and Khaled prepared themselves for executing the task. Suha another import ant character in the movie gets to know about all this, she convinces Khaled to back out of this mission and he convinces his friend Said to do the same. Said plays a trick on Khaled, khaled returns to his handlers but Said goes on with the plan. With an explosive belt hanging on his body, he decides to get into a bus and blow the whole bus up but he restricts himself on seeing a kid in the bus. "If there is no security for us, there will be none for them either. There power does not help them" (Paradise now 2005). Said said these lines and these lines are a good enough indication of what exactly was going on in his mind. He had a motive of revenge, which is very dangerous and a very
